We lost my sister’s dog this past weekend. For a while; they lived with us. I was so frustrated, it was chaos….that annoying puppy chewing and biting everything in site, accidents, and ruckus.

Twinkie turned into a sweet girl; tail wagging, kisses, and cuddles. She would bunny hop and outrun the “big boys”. Such spirit and personality she had.

Twinkie ended up having to have an emergency hysterectomy due to an infection in her uterus; it only got worse from there. After a few days, the best option was to put her to sleep.

The last thing i said to her was “you’re going to be okay” and I kissed that sweet face. She is okay, she crossed over the rainbow bridge and is living her best life at 14 months of age.

It is us on earth that are suffering without that outgoing personality and tough as nails spirit. Those kissy games, whole body wiggles, and cuddles at night.

Take your pups on that extra long walk, don’t be so upset that they couldn’t hold it while you were at work for 8 hours. Give them an extra treat just for being cute. Love and cuddle them, you are their whole life…for however long that may be.

I live and breathe the animal business, have done so since my first job (I am now 34…don’t tell anyone). Losing a pet never, ever gets easier. Cherish the time you have. Every walk in what seems like below zero temps, every late-night/early-morning wake up due to tummy troubles. At least they warned you, right?

We as humans don’t deserve their love, but they give it to us even after horrible situations where they should’ve negated all trust. Live in the moment and give the love to your fur-babies that they give you.

*This post is dedicated to Auntie Kelz girl, Twinkle. Shine bright, baby…until we meet again*
